OVERVIEW OF REQUIREMENTS
Minimum number of credits required to earn certificate: 13
Minimum Cumulative GPA required to earn certificate: None
Other requirements: Students must satisfy the UMM residency requirement for certificate programs, taking at least 12 credit hours through UMM.
This certificate is open to all students, including early college, and will facilitate the development of: an understanding of K-12 schools as organizational systems; foundational skills related to working in a K-12 school environment; and awareness of the multiple dimensions of diversity represented in K-12 student populations. Emphasis will be placed upon the formation and practical application of professional skills and dispositions expected of individuals working in a K-12 school environment. These courses all count toward UMM’s Bachelor of Rural Education with a concentration in Special Education. Additionally, SED 201 applies to all Maine teaching endorsements.
