OVERVIEW OF REQUIREMENTS

Minimum number of credits required to earn certificate: 13
 
Minimum Cumulative GPA required to earn certificate: None
 
Other requirements: Students must complete at least 12 credit hours required for this certificate through UM/UMM.

This certificate is open to all students, including early college, and will facilitate the development of: an understanding of K-12 schools as organizational systems; foundational skills related to working in a K-12 school environment; and awareness of the multiple dimensions of diversity represented in K-12 student populations. Emphasis will be placed upon the formation and practical application of professional skills and dispositions expected of individuals working in a K-12 school environment.

These courses all count toward UMM’s Bachelor of Rural Education with a concentration in Special Education. Additionally, SED 302 applies to all Maine teaching endorsements.
