EDU 217 - Working with Culturally Diverse Students This course explores the historical, philosophical and cultural foundations of education for a culturally diverse society. Students will use multiple frames of reference to examine the impact of race/ethnicity, class, gender and sexual orientation on the lives of students in America; the relationship of society and schools; and the responsibilities of schools and school personnel for promoting inclusivity. This course will focus on the social construction of privilege, examine the concept of “public” education and explore how schools can recognize and respond to issues of diversity.
