BMB 475 - Virus-Host Cell Interactions Discovery Laboratory This inquiry-based laboratory course gives students an in-depth understanding of virus-host cell interactions through the application of essential techniques and concepts in cell culture, virology, and immunology. Students will develop a scientific toolkit that includes: cell culture, virus infectivity assays, fluorescence microscopy, and other assays such as western blot, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, and sequence analysis. In this authentic laboratory-training environment, students will develop novel hypotheses, write a research proposal outlining their experimental strategy, perform experiments to test their hypotheses and analyze their data, and present their work in lab meetings and written progress reports throughout the semester.
