MEE 430 - Digital Manufacturing Digitalization of manufacturing (DM) is applicable in every industrial sector, and can bring a new paradigm of knowledge-based production and manufacturing. DM is driven by the application and standardization of information and communication technologies and the increasing demand for greater efficiency of operations. The course focuses on various components of DM and their interplay; design and manufacturing information type, their collection, analysis, and utilization. Additionally, additive manufacturing or 3D printing (3DP), a popular tool for DM implementation, will be covered. The topics include process science, material characterization, part characterization, and the economic impact of 3DP.
