ENG 343 - Nineteenth-Century American Literature An introduction to American literature and culture of the nineteenth century, a period of unprecedented violence, vision, and change encompassing some of the most storied names in poetry and prose. This reading-intensive course is designed to teach students about a rich, exciting epoch in literary history while giving them the opportunity to practice their reading and research skills in order to better prepare them for work in advanced seminars.
