PHY 480 - Physics of Materials An Introductory courses in the physics of materials, primarily solid state physics. The structural, mechanical, electrical, magnetic, and optical properties of materials are discussed. This course is appropriate for upper level undergraduates and graduate students in the field of physical sciences and engineering. The topics will build upon and utilize concepts from materials science, quantum physics, mechanics, and electricity and magnetism.

Prerequisites: A grade of C- or better in both PHY 231 and PHY 236
