Minimum number of requirements to earn certificate: 15; 18 if done in conjunction with the legal studies minor

The Certificate in Paralegal Studies-available both online and in the classroom-is designed to educate and train students so that upon competition of the certificate they are prepared to succeed as paralegal professionals anywhere in the United States.  More specifically, students who complete the requirements for the certificate in paralegal studies will:

  • Have a broad understanding of the legal system in the United States.
  • Be familiar with the basics of both criminal and civil law and litigation.
  • Understand multiple aspects of business law, including contracts, commercial law, property rights, and torts.
  • Be able to engage in critical analysis on questions of law and fact.
