The Service Learning Certificate prepares learners to effectively teach/partner on Service Learning/Community Engaged (SL/CE) classes and projects. This includes providing knowledge, skills and the practice of high-impact strategies for how to teach, coordinate, lead, research and assess service-learning and community-based learning for educational improvement and community enhancement. The curriculum is designed for K-12 and higher education teachers and educators in training, community professionals, instructional designers and student life professionals.
Students must satisfy the UMM residency requirement for certificate programs, taking at least 12 credit hours through UMM.
The certificate program requires completion of the following three courses.

- EDU 403 - Introduction to Service Learning Credits: 2
- EDU 408 - Service Learning Project Credits: 1
- EDU 409 - Service Learning Project Assessment & Research Credits: 2
