Summer University, established in 1895, is designed to meet the needs of full-time, part-time, day, evening, weekend, on-campus and distance students during the months of May, June, July and August. Serving degree and non-degree students, Summer University offers over 500 courses through variable calendars to those seeking educational experiences for personal and/or professional growth. Credit earned in Summer University is fully recognized. Credit may be counted toward the degrees that the University of Maine confers or may be transferred to other colleges and univiersities.
