A degree in International Affairs benefits students as they prepare for their roles as national and global citizens, educating them to the dynamics behind a changing global society and introducing them to ways of enhancing international community. Moreover, the International Affairs Program offers a strong, interdisciplinary curriculum that includes courses from departments across the campus and enables students from diverse disciplines to integrate an international perspective into their studies and future careers.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs allows students to choose among the following concentrations: Anthropology, Environmental Issues, History, Modern Languages, Political Science and Women’s Studies. During the first two years, students are encouraged to complete course work to fulfill the general education requirements of the Bachelor of Arts degree and core courses in the seven areas of International Affairs. The final two years are spent on the concentration electives. All International Affairs students are strongly urges to participate in the Study Abroad Program. Although Economics does not offer a concentration, International students are encouraged to take microeconomics and macroeconomics (ECO 120 and ECO 121).

Students interested in International Affairs/Modern Languages must select one of the following areas:

In addition to the International Affairs core requirements, students interested in the International Affairs/Modern Languages concentration must complete 21 credit hours above the intermediate level selected from courses listed for their language of choice, including the Senior Capstone course. Students presenting a course to satisfy a core requirement may not also use that course toward their concentration requirement. No 100-level or 200-level courses are applicable. At least 15 credit hours must be in courses 300-level or above. Study Abroad is very strongly recommended. Students wanting strong skills in a second language should consider combining the International Affairs French, German, and Spanish concentrations with a minor in the second target language.
