The University of Maine will award an appropriate number of Continuing
Education Units (CEUs) to those who satisfactorily complete a non-credit
course/program. The CEU, generally recognized throughout the country, has been
adopted as a uniform means of recording, measuring, and recognizing efforts in
noncredit, post-secondary education. The CEU is defined nationally as ten
contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience
under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. The
Continuing Education Division maintains permanent records. An official
transcript showing the course titles and the number of CEUs earned will be
issued upon request. The Continuing Education Division is responsible for the
administration of internally initiated courses/programs. The Conference Services
Division administers the CEUs for all externally initiated Programs. CEUs may
not be converted to degree credit. For more information call (207) 581-3414.
