PHI 214 - Continental Philosophy A study of some of the most influential thinkers in 20th Century Continental Philosophy. Explores themes central to this area of philosophy including the nature of self-identity, our ability to understand ourselves and our motivations, the social and political character of this understanding, and the implications of these themes for our understanding of such areas of human existence as ethics, art, and politics. Authors considered in the course may include Freud, Sartre, Marcuse, Foucault, Deleuze, Derrida, de Beauvoir, and Judith Butler.
