PSY 470 - History and Systems of Psychology Surveys the development of psychology as an experimental science. Beginning with
Greek views of human nature through Christian theology, the Renaissance and British
Associationism. Considers Scottish and German Faculty Psychology and the 19th
century developments in physiology that led directly to the birth of experimental
psychology. Brief consideration of Gestalt Psychology and Behaviorism, vitalism
in the life sciences and the mind-body problem in psychology.
Prerequisites: PSY 100, PSY 241, PSY 245; junior or senior standing.
