BLE 402 - Biomaterials and the Cellular Interface

The course is focused on the application of biological engineering principles to the design, testing, and use of biomaterials. The critical properties of materials such as those used for fabrication of biocompatible implanted devices, surgical materials and diagnostic tests will be examined. The course will address the contribution of cell-surface interactions, tissue compatibility, physical stability, and other parameters to the identification of design constraints.
