Seal of Biliteracy Credit Table

| The Seal of Biliteracy is an official recognition awarded to students who demonstrate proficiency in two or more languages by the time they graduate from high school or complete specific educational programs. UMaine students who present a Seal of Biliteracy can receive up to 9 credits of transfer course equivalencies per language as noted in the table below |

1If recipient of the Seal of Biliteracy were to be evaluated as Advanced-Low or higher on the ACTL OPI or OPIc proficiency test(s), additional three credits will be awarded at the 300 level.
2Students that receive credit for Foreign Language course equivalent through the Advanced Placement Examination cannot receive credit through the Seal of Biliteracy for the same language.
33Specific languages that do not have a course number at UMaine will transfer as MLC 200x.
