GEO 410 - North American Historical Geography This seminar examines the various ways historical geographers have studied the North American past, ranging from focused local studies to national and continental interpretations. The readings pay particular attention to the creation of cultural landscapes, environmental change, and the character of places, regions, and countries. The course considers the challenge of representing historical information in the spatial format of the map. The seminar meets weekly. Students are expected to do the readings, contribute to discussion, and participate in the class field trip.
Prerequisites: A course at the 200 level in either Anthropology, Geography, or History; Junior standing; or permission of the instructor
