The minor in Archaeology introduces students to a variety of approaches and theoretical frameworks used to reconstruct ancient human behaviors and culture. It also emphasizes the importance of the historical, geographic, and environmental context of the development of mankind. As an interdisciplinary field that provides a broad view of the past, the minor will complement several major degree programs, including Art, Biology, Earth Sciences, Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Engineering, International Affairs/Anthropology, History and Zoology. The curriculum draws on departmental strengths in anthropological and environmental archaeology and offers foundational courses in archaeology, regional specializations throughout the globe, and topics of special interest.
