REM 116 - Basic Camping Skills This course focuses on developing basic camping skills; including equipment and clothing selection and use, tent and tarp set-up, campsite management, campstove safety, food storage and safety, backcountry cooking and clean-up, water purification, and expedition behavior. Students will participate in an overnight camping trip during which they will actively reflect on their skill levels, and outline goals for further development. May be offered pass/fail at instructor’s option.
