BIO 212 - Ornithology The remarkable adaptations of birds to flight traced through the study of their biology, behavior, and ecology. Comparisons of systematic groups demonstrate the interrelationships of anatomy with ecological roles and behavior. These and other topics are elucidated through dissection and examination of specimens. Frequent field trips to practice identification of birds by visual patterns, behavior and song, culminate in a predawn bird census. Lecture 2 hours, laboratory 4 hours.
Prerequisites: BIO 117 and BIO 118, or permission of instructor.
