ARH 452 - Critical Methods in History of Art This seminar immerses students within the historiography of History of Art, making them familiar with the philosophical underpinnings, historical context, rhetorical tones, critical vocabularies and intended goals of each investigative strategy. The exploration of the various methodological approaches that the field has supported includes: Connoisseurship, Iconography, Reception Theory, Marxism, Feminism, Deconstruction, Visual Linguistics and perhaps other emerging schemes.
