PHI 260 - Philosophy of Language A study of major contemporary theories of language. Topics include the nature of meaning, uses of language, conventions in language, the nature of grammar, syntax and semantics. Philosophers studied include Searle, Quine and Chomsky, among others.
Satisfies the General Education Western Cultural Tradition Requirement.
Prerequisites: no first-year students or permission.
