ENG 553 - Shakespeare and His Contemporaries

Plays by Shakespeare, Jonson, Middleton, Webster, and Ford, among others. To test dramatic effects and critical principles, the course emphasizes revenge tragedy, city comedy, and tragic farce. (Offered once every two years.)

Graduate standing in English or permission.
