Associate of Arts - Liberal Studies


 

OVERVIEW OF DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum number of credits required to graduate: 60

Minimum Cumulative GPA required to graduate: 2.0


Students completing the Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies may complete optional concentrations in Allied Health, Aquaculture, Digital Media Production, Creative Writing, Marine Biology, Mental Health & Rehabilitation, Music, Psychology or Visual Arts. 

To graduate, students must earn a minimum of 60 credits and achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

Students completing the Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies can complete one of the following nine optional concentrations:

  • Allied Health
  • Aquaculture 
  • Creative Writing
  • Digital Media Production
  • Marine Biology
  • Mental Health & Rehabilitation
  • Music (currently suspended)
  • Psychology
  • Visual Arts

Core Requirements


Artistic & Creative Expression - 4-6 credits

At least 4 credits from two different disciplines, one class must be studio/performance. 

Three Credit Options: 

One Credit Options: 

Cultural Diversity & International Perspective - 3 credits

Options that require international travel: 

      or

Ethics - 3 credits

Personal Wellness - 3 credits

Population & the Environment - 3 credits

Quantitative Literacy - 3-8 credits

Select one of the following - 3-4 credits: 

Scientific Inquiry - 4 credits

Social Contexts & Institutions - 3 credits

Western Cultural Tradition - 3 credits

Writing Competency - 6 credits

Allied Health Concentration - 17-18 credits


Creative Writing Concentration - 15 credits


Digital Media Production Concentration- 18 credits


Marine Biology concentration - 16 credits


Music Concentration - 19 credits


Please note: This concentration is currently suspended for the current academic year and is not accepting new students.  Students currently in this concentration should refer to the catalog in effect when they entered the program.
