Associate of Science - Conservation Law and Outdoor Management 


OVERVIEW OF DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum number of credits required to graduate: 60

Minimum Cumulative GPA required to graduate: 2.0

Other requirements:  A minimum of 15 credit hours must be completed at the University of Maine at Machias.


Conservation Law and Outdoor Management emphasizes a study of conservation law and how it is related to both law enforcement and recreational services. The general objective of this program is preparation for program leadership positions in the field of conservation law and management.

The program of study emphasize the professional study of conservation of law. In addition, the curriculum facilitates transition to UMM’s Recreation & Tourism Management baccalaureate program for those students who decide to further their studies or seek higher credentials.

General Requirements


To graduate, students must earn a minimum of 60 credits and achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00. 

First Year Seminar - 3 credits


Communication - 6 credits


Aesthetic Perspectives - 3 credits


Complete 3 credits from the following areas: 

  • ART
  • MUS
  • THE
  • FIA
  • Creative Writing

Scientific Inquiry - 4 credits


Math Requirements - 3 credits


  • MAT course at or above the 100-level*  Credits:  3

Ways to establish equivalence to MAT 102:

  1. Score at least 530 on the new SAT math exam (MSS) or at least 21 on ACT math exam.
  2. Score 50 or better on CLEP College Mathematics or College Algebra exam taken after 7/1/2001 or 500 or better on same exam taken before that date.

* This course may be MAT 102 Intermediate Algebra or its equivalent (see above).

Criminal Justice - 12 credits


Conservation Law - 12 Credits


Recreation and Tourism Management - 12 Credits


Wellness & Physical Activity - 4 credits


General Electives - 1 credits
