REM 227 - Backcountry Expedition Skills This course involves a multi-day expedition. Prior to the expedition, the course will focus on the planning and preparation process, minimal impact travel methods, physical training and the development of a solid risk management plan. During the expedition, students will keep a detailed journal including their challenges and peak experiences, their progress and the terrain, environmental stewardship and leadership considerations for backcountry expeditions. Following the expedition, students will complete a self-assessment of their performance and a portfolio designed to be useful for future expeditions.
Prerequisites: REM 121, or permission of instructor.
