REM 219 - Introduction to Tourism This course provides an introduction and overview of the tourism industry. Beginning with a broad perspective of the tourism industry, tourism organizations, tourism history, tourism sociology and tourism economics are explored. Narrowing in focus, students then learn about the impact of tourism on communities and strategies for sustainability. Students examine various sectors of the tourism industry and have the opportunity to explore their own special areas of interest.
Prerequisites: ENG 101, or permission of instructor.
