ENV 224 - Scientific Writing & Presentation

Students in this course will further develop their communication skills primarily by focusing on environmental topics. They will strive to be both skillful consumers and providers of scientific and technical information related to environmental issues, problems and solutions. Each semester the course will focus on one or two themes or projects. Students will need to read and interpret the primary literature to establish the current understanding of the field, perform a limited study of their own and finally present their findings. Students will compare how information is presented to a lay audience versus the scientific community and practice the skill themselves. Students will make presentations to both scientific and lay audiences. There will be a one-hour lecture and two-hour lab/discussion period each week.

Prerequisites: ENG 101 and SPE 104, or permission of instructor.
