CHY 221 - Organic Chemistry I

An introduction to the properties and reactivity of carbon compounds. Reactions are analyzed with an emphasis on the structural and mechanistic bases for reactivity. Nomenclature and basic analytical methods are also considered. The integrated laboratory reinforces concepts from lecture. Lecture 3 hours, laboratory 4 hours. 

Prerequisites: CHY 102 or equivalent.
