THE 217 - Intermediate Acting

This course takes the student beyond the fundamental level of acting and introduces several advanced acting approaches that can be employed in the preparation of a role. In addition to the standard techniques developed by Konstantin Stanislavski, and promoted by Michael Chekov, Stella Adler, Uta Hagan, Lee Strasberg, and Sanford Meisner, the class will familiarize students with the techniques, developed by such theorists as Viola Spolin, Keith Johnstone, Augusto Boal, Antonin Artaud, Bertlot Brecht, Richard Schechner, and Anne Bogart. Students will select characters from various plays, and will use analytical methods for preparing their roles, while they act with partners and present monologues as potential audition material.
