CIE 115 - Computers in Civil Engineering Introduces the student to computers and computations by solving examples relevant to civil engineering. The algorithmic aspects of programming as well as the development of simple graphical user interfaces are taught. Approximately one half of the course time is allocated to programming with the remainder involving problems and applications. Specific examples typically include problems from structures, geotechnical, transportation and environmental engineering. Emphasis is placed on examples introducing statistical methods. Also introduces the use of spreadsheets, word processing and a mathematics program. (0.0 ED/3.0 ES.) Lec 2, Lab 3 (Spring.)
Prerequisites: MAT 126, Civil Engineering majors only.
