ERL 608 - Sociocultural Perspectives on Language and Literacy This course focuses on sociocultural theories of cognitive and identity development, focusing on the mediational influence of language, numeracy, and other symbol systems. Beginning with Vygotsky’s unified model of cognitive development, this course addresses theoretic frames that include cultural-historical activity theory, situated and embodied cognition, and situated learning broadly conceived.
