MAT 121 - Applied Algebra and Trigonometry An introduction to the applications of algebra and trigonometry, with a focus on data analysis and model building. Topics include an introduction to data analysis and modeling; functions and graphs; matrices; polynomial, exponential and logarithmic equations; the basic trigonometric functions. All topics will be treated with an emphasis on how the associated functions are used in real world applications. (Note: Students who intend to go on the calculus should opt for MAT 122 instead of MAT 121. A maximum of four credits will be allowed for successful completion of both MAT 121 and MAT 122.)
Satisfies the General Education Mathematics Requirement.
Prerequisites & Notes A grade of C or better in MAT 111 or adequate performance on a qualifying examination.
